Two lenses emerge from the corner, deliberately leaving the rest of the camera unseen.

The choice of the TLR is not accidental.

My photographic journey began with film. Long before digital cameras and smartphones became part of everyday life, I learned to see through film, light, and the quiet discipline of waiting. Among the cameras I used during those early years were TLR cameras loaded with 120 film.

The TLR therefore represents more than a piece of photographic equipment. It represents where I began.

The square surrounding it is the frame — the boundary through which a photographer chooses to see the world. What lies inside the frame is captured; what lies outside remains unseen. Every photograph is, in some way, a decision about what to include, what to leave out, and where to place our attention.

Perhaps that is also why only part of the camera is revealed.

I have always believed that photography is not about showing everything. Sometimes, what is left outside the frame can be just as important as what is captured within it.

Beneath the symbol sits PALM IMAGE.

The name has been with me since the early days of my professional photography. “Palm” carries two meanings for me: the palm leaf, reflecting the Malaysian landscape and the place I come from, and the palm of the hand — a reminder that every image is ultimately created by human hands, eyes, choices, and emotions.

Today, Palm Image is no longer a production company.

There is no longer a need for “Production” in the name.

What remains is the image.

And beneath it:

The Eddie Chang Archive.

These words reflect what Palm Image has become today — not simply a name for photographic work, but a place where years of photographs, memories, observations, people, cultures, and moments can continue to exist.

Technology will continue to change. Cameras will evolve. Film has become digital, DSLRs have given way to mirrorless systems, and today almost everyone carries a capable camera in a phone.

But the reason for photographing has remained much the same.

To look.

To notice.

To remember.

The Palm Image mark is therefore not designed to represent a particular camera, a particular era, or even a particular style of photography.

It is a reminder of where I started, how I learned to see, and why I continue to photograph.

A small frame.

Two lenses.

A lifetime of images beyond it.

The Story Behind the Palm Image Mark A logo is often designed to represent a brand.
